About
A free monthly bird survey conducted by Birds Houston at Clay Family Eastern Glades in Memorial Park, held on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 am. Meet at the north end of the Clay Family Eastern Glades parking lot near the restroom pavilion off East Memorial Loop Drive. The survey takes 1 to 1.5 hours. Parking costs $2.00. Beginners are welcome, and you can borrow binoculars if needed. The Eastern Glades is a 100-acre reclaimed parkland with three distinct habitats—lake, forested wetlands, and savanna—creating an excellent birding destination. The first survey after opening discovered three Red-headed Woodpeckers, a nesting pair of Least Grebes, and 13 other species.
