About
The Little School of the 400 exhibition tells the story of an innovative 1950s preschool program in South Texas that used conversation, play, and 400 essential English words to prepare Spanish-speaking children for school. High school student Isabel Gonzales helped teach in the program, and what began in one classroom grew into a statewide educational movement that helped lay important groundwork for bilingual education in Texas.
