About

A community celebration of agriculture, healthy living, free plants, and education and demonstrations that build stronger neighborhoods at Emancipation Park. Greening of Third Ward & Beyond 2026. Join us on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Emancipation Park for a community-wide celebration of growing food, healthy living, local agriculture, and stronger neighborhoods. The Greening of Third Ward & Beyond brings together residents, gardeners, farmers, community organizations, volunteers, families, and urban agriculture advocates for a hands-on day focused on helping people grow more of their own food and connect with the people growing food locally. Building on the success of our 2025 event, which welcomed more than 2,000 people, this year's Greening will expand the experience with more plants, more trees, more farmers, more demonstrations, and more opportunities to learn. What You'll Experience: FREE fruit tree giveaway. Thousands of FREE vegetable and herb starter plants. Local Black farmers and growers. Urban gardening demonstrations. Community garden resources. Seed and gardening activities. Healthy food and cooking education. Children's activities. Health and wellness resources. Community organizations and vendors. Volunteer opportunities. Music, fellowship, and family-friendly activities. Whether you have a backyard, balcony, patio, community garden plot, or simply want to learn how food is grown, there will be something for you. Our message is simple: Learn to Grow Your Own • Support Community Gardens • Support Local Farmers. Admission is FREE, but registration is encouraged.
