About

Phenology Walks are guided nature walks held on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in front of the Nature Center building. The walks are free with donations appreciated and welcome all ages, with children 12 and under requiring adult accompaniment. Led by scientists from Rice University and Arboretum staff, these relaxing morning walks focus on tracking the life cycles of plants across ecosystems, from spring bud burst to winter dormancy. Participants learn how shifting weather patterns and climate change influence the timing of seasonal events in local ecosystems and can become community scientists by contributing data from their own backyards to a global research initiative through USA-NPN (USA National Phenology Network).
