About
Children's Museum Houston transforms into a colorful Land of the Dead to celebrate El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The museum offers bilingual storytimes with engaging stories and songs in Gallery of Wonder at 10 am. Día de los Muertos workshops run from 10 am to 2 pm in the Design Studio, where participants create mini ofrendas to honor loved ones (limited to 12 per workshop). Spanish and English storytimes are held at 11 am and 1 pm in the Parent Resource Library. Intempo Dance performances bring the vibrant spirit of Día de los Muertos traditions to life at noon and 2 pm in Brown Auditorium. All-day hands-on activities include creating calavera thermoplastics at the Science Station, designing Alebrijes-inspired stuffed creatures in the Chevron Maker Annex, decorating sugar skull face art in Prototopia, making paper skeleton puppets with movable joints in Kaleidoscope, and creating papel picado folk art decorations in Kaleidoscope. The museum also features an ofrenda home altar display throughout the day in Kaleidoscope.
