About

Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, and Orson Welles star in a gripping drama set in post-World War II Allied-occupied Vienna. An American novelist (Cotten) arrives in the city, learns that his longtime friend Harry Lime (Welles) is dead, and sets out to find out what happened while also becoming involved with his friend's lover (Valli). Globally acknowledged as a masterpiece, The Third Man is must-see essential cinema. The film won multiple awards including an Oscar for Robert Krasker's expressionist black-and-white cinematography, while the haunting "Third Man Theme," performed by composer Anton Karas on a zither, has become iconic. Tickets: $9 general admission. $7 for MFAH members, students with ID, and seniors (65+). Plan Your Visit: This screening takes place in Brown Auditorium Theater in the Law Building. Parking Information, Museum Hours, and the MFAH Campus Map are available on the website.
